Sweet Potato Love

My favorite dish at the Thanksgiving table is the sweet potato casserole! The casserole my family enjoys is the traditional sweet potatoes mashed and mixed with brown sugar, milk, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and topped with marshmallows. We have almost burnt the marshmallows several times! I want to know how your sweet potatoes are served! What do you add to the mix? Do you mash them or cut them into pieces? Feel free to share your recipes if you want! Here are some fun recipes using sweet potatoes...just in case you don't use them all for Thanksgiving!

My favorite sweet potato dish is something I fell in love with living in Japan--daigaku imo. Daigaku imo are wedges of cookied sweet potato that are then coated in a candy-liek syrup and then sprinkled with black sesame seeds. HEAVENLY!

I love sweet potatoes but without the marshmallows. Strange, I know but I always scrape them off. Sweet potato pie is my very favorite.

Meg, I'm so sorry Shelby was sick! What an adorable dog!

I love sweet potatoes and cook them a whole bunch of different ways. My favorite Thanksgiving sweet potato recipe was the time I hollowed out oranges and then put cubed sweet potatoes tossed with butter and orange juice inside the orange rinds. I topped each one with a marshmallow and baked them.

They were fun, festive and tasty!

Love sweet potatoes! We'll be having a marshmallow-less sweet potato casserole next week at Thanksgiving. Love the links - more great ways to use sweet potatoes!

I don't have s favorite recipe for sweet potatoes, they're just great eating it plain (as pumpkin), so I'm looking forward to see your casserole recipe.

We don't do the marshmallow covered sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving, we do a casserole with a crunchy pecan topping. I'm actually making it tonight for my daughter's Thanksgiving dinner at school tomorrow - I'll post the recipe. So yummy, it's practically dessert!

I'm a dork, I like them baked up till they are nice and soft and oozing and eat them skin and all without anything added to them.

We sometimes do a Kahlua candied sweet potato for the holidays. It's basically just a sauce made with Kahlua, brown sugar, and butter on sliced, cooked sweet potatoes. So good!

Unfortunately, this is one of my least favourite veggies!

I just tried sweet potatos for the first time in a LONG time not too long ago - I made sweet potato ravioli - so good!

I think I may make that my appetizer for Gobble day.

When i was little my mom used to make them fry, but now my favourite thing to do with them are some really nice and soft cookies-biscuits. Yummy, I'll be doing them during Christmas!

My latest favorite sweet potato dish is to roast the potatoes, scrape out the flesh into a baking dish and mash to a smooth consistency, adding in some ginger and vanilla, topped with walnuts and a little brown sugar. Amazing!
